About

Knevel Architecten regarding this project:

Location
The filling station will occupy a prominent location in the business park between the N99 and the Havenweg in Den Oever. Due to the region’s potential, an order was introduced that aims to combine the weekly or even daily routine of filling up with bicycle rentals and repair and office space.

Design
This development puts basic principles such as sustainability, specific crafts and skills from the region, and climate-neutral construction centre stage. The plan establishes a complex programme on an elongated lot.
The building is designed on the basis of a double-sided orientation, which is expressed in a division into main elements to provide for view and contact from the Havenweg to the N99 and vice versa; inviting towards the Havenweg side and functionally related to it; clearly visible and an interesting experience on the N99 side.

The ‘envelop’ is designed as a tiered facade with coloured panelling and wooden segments. This allows for surfaces in relief and a subtle hint at the characteristic corporate colour.
AVIA Marees has built an innovative, CO2-neutral filling station. The filling area, where the pumps are located, is the heart of the station. In addition to the sale of regular fuels, an emphasis has been placed on cleaner alternatives and additives. An envelop is folded over the entire structure, both where the layout is dictated by the dynamics of cars in motion, and the area housing the various other functions such as the office and car wash.
